This book is so depressing. What about a stay at home dad? Can't fathers love their kids too? The sexism against men really is sad. Perhaps dad wants to get up in the middle of the night to care for a teething baby. I knew stay at home moms who would live vicariously through their poor children, bored out of their brains, not caring about their actual children but rather wanted academic successes so they could stick stupid stickers on the back of the car saying my kids on the honor roll. Daughters dismayed about going to college only to throw achievements in the trash with her kids diapers. And the horrible assumption that this is a choice every mother can make... some mothers may wish to be a stay at home mom but can't because her husband died, disappeared or got sick, and has no one who can or will help her. Real and down to earth! A wonderful read that makes you smile and feel encouraged.
It's simple, straightforward and encouraging. It helps you remember that you're not alone in the journey you're walking. It is a super good read if you need an encouraging word from a stay at home mom.
In a world where it seems like every woman is in competition with another, this short book is a chance for the reader to refresh her idea of what her value as a mom, a wife, and a human. The book offers insights and tips for how to redefine and rediscover your true purpose, and how to stay sane in the process! Great for all moms, or anyone who thinks they might be one day!
It really is a letter of encouragement! It is clear, non-judgmental and covers a lot of good points giving good food for thought. Simple solutions are offered that can make a big difference in the life of the stay at home mom and the children. I particularly like the quote "somebody's got to be crazy about that kid." All kids should have someone that is crazy about them. They can feel that love and thrive.
Gabrielle has done a wonderful work here. I appreciate her heart for encouraging women who dwell and thrive in their homes. Her gentle approach will speak to many women who may be struggling with their calling or are simply looking for sound advice in their role. Thank you, Gabrielle for sharing your heart in this jewel!
The author has done a great job of affirming how important the stay at home Mother's role is for her children.
It is short but sweet, and has some positive ideas on balance. Gabrielle mentions Jesus, who loves our children
far more than we ever could; he has a huge influence on our children's resiliency. Thanks to Gabrielle and her
own Mother's influence, for writing this!
